Museums of New York City: Igor Purlantov

Igor Purlantov is proud to call New York City home. New York City is often considered the cultural capital of the world. One of the wonderful ways that New York City can be enjoyed is through a tour of its magnificent museums. New York City museums offer something for everyone. Examples of fine art, sculpture, drawings, and textiles are abundant. Natural history, nautical history, and cultural history can be explored in the museums of New York City. New York City also boasts many impressive gardens. Igor Purlantov suggests planning a trip to explore some of the treasures found in New York City.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met), the Guggenheim, and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) make up the trifecta of New York City Museums according to Igor Purlantov. The collection at the Met is vast and diverse. Examples of every known art form expressed in every possible medium is available for viewing at the Met. The Met showcases art from 5,000 years ago to the present. The Guggenheim is housed in the architectural masterpiece designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The collection was initially focused on contemporary and modern art. Igor Purlantov highly recommends the Guggenheim to fans of 20th century art. The Museum of Modern Art is another must see while visiting New York City. MoMA has a collection that focuses on architecture and design, media and performance art, drawings, photography, and film.

Igor Purlantov suggests a few more museums to explore. There are many museums dedicated to the cultural diversity of the population of New York City. The Ellis Island museum explores the story of immigration from the perspective of immigrants coming to the United States. The Hispanic Society of America is a free museum and reference library for the study of the arts and cultures of Spain, Portugal, and Latin America.

Igor Purlantov concedes that the museums mentioned are just a sample of the vast number of museums that New York City has to offer.
